1 -  How do I clean the anti-scale valve on my Tefal iron?

Remove the anti-scale valve from your iron and leave it overnight in a cup of white or distilled malt vinegar or lemon juice.

2 -  How do I clean the Superglide/Ultraglide soleplate on my Tefal iron?

The soleplate can be cleaned using warm water and washing-up liquid on a plastic scouring pad suitable for non-stick coatings. For stubborn stains, use Hi Speed found in your local supermarket in the laundry isle.

3 -  How do I prevent brown spots from the iron appearing on the clothing?

Do not use any other water other than tap water in the iron. Do not use any descaling agents or additives such as perfume. Change the anti-scale cartridge regularly. Use the self-clean function on the iron regularly and clean the anti-scale valve regularly. Do not leave water in the tank when you have finished ironing. As the iron acts like a vacuum cleaner on clothes it sucks up soap deposits from fabric therefore ensuring that clothes are thoroughly rinsed.

4 -  How do I prevent the soleplate from sticking to my garments?

Use the right temperatures on the thermostat for the right fabrics. The soleplate probably sticks to the garments because the temperature of the soleplate is too hot for the fabric you are ironing. Another reason for sticking may be the use of starch. If you want to use starch, simply spray it on the reverse side of the garment, so that there is no contact between the soleplate and the starch.

5 -  How do I prevent the steam holes of my Tefal iron from clogging up?

Firstly, fill the iron tank to MAX with water. Set the thermostat control to Max and the steam control on DRY and switch on. Place the iron on its heel and leave to heat up for around 5 minutes. Unplug the iron then hold your iron horizontally above the sink. Remove the anti-scale valve (or set the control to self-clean/autoclean depending on the model). Steam, water and scale deposits will leave the steam chamber through the steam holes and the iron will be clean.

6 -  How do I prevent water drips on my fabrics?

Again, use the right temperature on the thermostat for the right fabrics. The reason for the water drips is probably too low a temperature that can not convert the water into steam. To avoid the risk of water drips completely, make sure the thermostat is set on the grey/shaded zone.

7 -  How often should I replace the Filterscale cassette on my Tefal iron?

Roughly, once every 3 to 6 months. This depends on the hardness of the water in your area and how often you use your iron. If the water in your area is very hard and you use your iron very often, you need to replace your cassette more often than when the water is soft and you do not iron very often.

8 -  I am using my iron for the first time and it does not steam properly. What action do I take?

Because the iron as well as the Filterscale cassette is new, it takes a while for the water to travel from the water tank through the cassette to the steam chamber. Leave the iron plugged in for five minutes and you can steam ahead!

9 -  What can I use the vertical steam feature for?

It is very useful for steaming curtains and other delicate items, such as suits and dresses. Simply hold the fabric taut. Place the thermostat on MAX, press repeatedly on the steam boost button and move the iron from top to bottom. Hold the iron a few centimetres from the garment to avoid burning delicate fabrics.

10 -  What water should I use in my Tefal iron?

Tefal irons are specifically made to use tap water. The anti-scale features will clean the water properly. Please do not use pure demineralised water, water from clothes dryers, scented or softened water, water from refrigerators, batteries or air conditioners, pure distilled water or rain water as these may damage the iron. These types of water contain organic waste, mineral elements that become concentrated when heated and cause spitting, brown staining or premature wear on your iron.
